Kármán Vortex Sensor
A more advanced volumetric type of mass air flow sensor that detects swirling air patterns (vortices) using optical sensors. The frequency of these vortices is proportional to the air velocity, which the ECU then combines with temperature data to calculate the mass flow rate.

Kármán Vortex MAF sensor — detects swirling air patterns using optical sensors. The mesh screen at the inlet conditions airflow for accurate vortex frequency measurement.
