Vane Air Flow Sensor

VAF

An older, less common design that measures the volume of air rather than its mass. A physical vane or flap inside the sensor is moved by the force of the incoming air, and a potentiometer connected to the vane's pivot measures its position, which the ECU uses to determine the airflow volume.
